In this memorable TV drama, based upon a short story by Roald Dahl, a young 'fag' (a new pupil deputed to act as a servant to a senior boy) is victimised by his fagmaster, who dresses up in cadet corps uniform to inflict a cruel beating upon the hapless lad. Frankly, it can only be described as an unpleasant scene even if it is good drama. The bit about running towards the boy being beaten is absurd. It makes for inaccurate application of the cane and certainly would not make the strokes any harder. However, some prefects apparently were stupid enough to do this.
